Priyanka Aelay

Born in Hyderabad in 1990 Priyanka did her Bachelors in Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University, Hyderabad, 2011. She completed her Master of Fine Arts from Hyderabad Central University, Hyderabad, India, 2013. Post that she did Ph.D in Film studies and Visual Culture from English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad, India, 2022.

Since 2010 till 2024 she took part in several art camps, in Hyderabad, Tirupathi and Pune.

Over the years she had participated in innumerable group shows in India and abroad. Since 2013 till date she has exhibited her works in Hyderabad, Mumbai, New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Chandigar, Ludhiana, Pune, Kolkata, Bhopal and USA .

Priyanka also had 10 solo shows from 2012 to 2024 in Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bangalore USA and France.

Priyanka Alley has had few performances and video installations in 2015, 2017 and 2018 in Hyderabad, India and Bordeaux Metropole -Bordeaux, France.

She is the recipient of several awards: wherein in 1999 Priyanka won a gold medal in All India Painting competition, in 2010 won highly commendable in State Art Gallery art exhibition. In 2010 awarded by the CMC Environmental painting competition, Delhi, India. And in 2011 awarded by the State Art Gallery, Hyderabad, India.

Although the works are essentially contemporary there is an unmistakable element of mysticism. The usage of blue in different shades along with other muted shades of brown, green and orange heighten the sense of mysticism further. The simple yet intricate flora and fauna spreading all across the canvas comes alive with certain sense of movement and life. The underlying flow of energy gets transmuted to the painted characters on the canvas.
