ANAND PANCHAL

Born in Latur (M. S) in the year 1973 artist Anand Panchal has done his G.D Art from Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalay, Pune followed by a diploma, A.Ed from Sir J.J. School of Arts, Mumbai.

A figurative artist primarily, the colour palette in his canvas brings forth a liveliness even as it creates a soft, sublime and a innocent picture of rural life and its people. The soft outlines, the lotus eyes, the expression, the gestures render a lyrical quality to his characters from the village life along with those of the mythologies unravelling a stylized yet sensitive quality to the figures in his canvas.

As Palak Dubey justly describes, “The inclusion of forms such as paper boats, cows, floral clusters and musical instruments add to the metaphorical and allegorical aspects of the works. The treatment of the picture surface is a combination of texture and flat application, finished rendering and impasto, granular and smooth. The textual renditions of ‘mantra’ and ‘shloka’, add to the spiritual aspects, yet they never disturb the flow of the visual rhythm.”

Recipient of several awards, he has participated in multiple camps and workshops, solo and group shows all across the country. His works are in collection in India and abroad. Currently based and practicing in Kandivali (w), Mumbai.
