After doing the Diploma in Painting from Bangiya Sangeet Parishad, affiliated to Rabindra Bharti University in 1991, Barun did his B.V.A. in Painting from Govt. College of Art & Craft, Calcutta University, Kolkata, West Bengal in 1996, and M.F.A. in Graphics from Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University of Baroda Gujarat in 1999. He has been the recipient of several awards in India and abroad and has participated in many art camps and workshops in India and in over five solo shows including in Glasgow, UK, and the recent being in 2023 in New Delhi, at MEC Art Gallery titled “Confessions into thin air” of prints; apart from participating in innumerable exhibitions in different parts of India. Essentially a storyteller, it’s always the narrative that is used strongly and lightly alternatively and sometimes fractured of conveying the turbulent socio-political environment.
