Born in a village in West Bengal, in 1976, artist did a Diploma in Fine Arts from Pachin Kala Kendra, Chandighar.
In the same year 2013 he had four solo shows in Kolkata in different galleries.
His work has been displayed in over fifty group shows in India and abroad, like in Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Medinipur and in Nepal and Bangladesh. Some are mentioned here:

Artist Goutam Das is the recipient of several awards as mentioned below:2018 Top Ten Gold Award at Kala Spandan Art fair Mumbai, 2017 KALAA SPANDAN ART FAIR SILVER AWARD Mumbai, 2017 First Award Pune, Maharashtra, and S.M. Sultan Guest Award in 2019 from Bangladesh. His works are in collection both here and abroad.
As the son of the late Anil Das from an early age he displayed and appreciation of art and painting and was mesmerised by the hoarding and sign board painters. He would spend lot of his after school hours watching them. The works of artist Prokash Karmakar, and Amitabho Sengupta inspired and influenced him and it was under the guidance of Prokash Karmakar that his interested matured to creation of skilled art. His extreme love and passion towards the art helped him to establish the Bauria Arpitam Kala Mandir, a platform through which he imparts his knowledge to the aspiring artists.His expressive and boldly coloured works are both harmonious and chaotic all at the same time and often revolves around contemporary themes exploring nature, figurative elements all telling a story.
