Samir Chanda

Born in 1980 in Kolkata and brought up in the same city Samir, did his BFA and MFA from Government College od Arts and Crafts in 2004 and 2006 respectively.

He also received the Mukul Dey Award from Govt. College of art & craft in the following year 2005.

Following this artist Samir Chanda did few solo shows of his works in:Genesis Art Gallery in the year of 2008, in 2009 at Academy of fine Arts in the year of 2011,2013,2015; Birla Academy of Art Culture in the year of 2015,2018.

Samir has participated in Annual Exhibition of Govt. College of Art Craft(2000-2006);Annual Exhibition of Oriental Society of art, Kolkata (2004, 2006,2007.2017);Annual Exhibition of Academy of fine Arts , Kollkata( 2004,2005,2006,2007& 2008);Annual Exhibition of Birla Academy of Art & Culture(2005,2008); Calcutta Information Centre (2005,2007,2008,2017).

This apart he has participated in innumerable group exhibitions in different galleries in Kolkata and Mumbai, Delhi, Pune and his work was displayed in Bangiya Sangeet KalaKendra- 2019,2020;India at Large-2020; ICA Gallery (Art Festival)- 2020; International Exhibition (5 Minute Arts)- 2021amongst many others. Through the years he has participated in many art workshops.

Brightly coloured yet in the cool tones of blue and green, his figurative works speak of the many relationships; the different dynamics of human relationships to that between man and nature comes to life under Samir’s skilled and strong lines, tones and often geometrical forms.
