Adarsh Baji is a Baroda-based artist who completed his BVA in Painting from J.N.T. University, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India in 2007, and went on to complete his MVA from S.N. School, University of Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India in 2009.
He held a solo show at Kalakriti Art Gallery, Hyderabad in 2023, and has participated in several art camps and workshops. From 2009 to 2019, he took part in camps held in Baroda, Mumbai, Gangtok, Rajasthan, Lucknow, and Hyderabad.
Since 2005, he has participated in innumerable group shows in Baroda, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Gangtok, Bangkok, Taiwan, Goya, and Delhi.
In 2014, 2015, and 2017, he undertook artist residencies in Delhi, Baroda, and Ahmedabad.
Adarsh received the Junior Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture in 2017 and was supported by the Kalakrithi Foundation from 2004 to 2009.
He was awarded the “Kalanand” All India Award for pencil drawing by the Prafulla Dahanukar Art Foundation, Mumbai in 2019. In 2016, he received the 29th National Exhibition of Contemporary Art Award at Chitramayee – State Art Gallery, Hyderabad.
His body of work includes the image of Gandhi, which offers him multiple possibilities of understanding himself and his surroundings.
Bright and colourful, with the usage of several objects on the canvas as he builds the story, the artist talks about the concept of peace as envisioned by Gandhi.
