Meenakshi Jha Banerjee

Born in 1974 Meenakshi jha Banerjee is a self taught artist working consistently for the past 20 years in Bihar region. Her experimentations with the traditional and simplistic elements of Mithila embedded in the folk paintings has evolved as a signature style of her own merges into current subjects, modern medium and contemporary skill sets.

She has had over 5 solo shows in New Delhi and in Patna from 2013 to 2019. She has also participated in innumerable group shows in Kolkata, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bihar, Santiniketan, Hyderabad, Jaipur and Sydney. She has also attended few work camps in Bihar and Rajasthan from 2014 to 2022.

Meenakshi has been the recipient of several awards some of which are mentioned here: Times women Power Award 2019, Aadhi Abadi Samman 2021,Bihar Kala Sanman 2013, Aparajita Sanman 2018, Tilka Manjhi Rashtriya Samman 2019, and Women achiever award OLA 2018.

She has established a social enterprise named Kahaanighar which has emerged over last two years as an outfit to nurture and imbibe culture into children and the society around them.

Recently one of her works has been published as a cover in Australia under the Auspices of #Incredible India movement, jointly by the Ministries of Tourism of the both countries, and now a part of The National Library of Australia.
