Nabendu Roy

Born in 1975 this artist from Howrah, West Bengal did his Diploma in Fine Arts from Indian Society of Oriental Arts, Kolkata in the year 2002. He has had four solos in Delhi and Kolkata in the years 2010/12/14 and 2017. He has also participated in few work-shops and art camps. Since 1997 he has had several group shows in Kolkata, New Delhi, and Hyderabad. Working with the human emotions in depicting the inner world he paints very colourful and oftentimes symbolic images to narrate the ongoing situations with strong social messages. In the artist’s own words: “What is the notion of play all about? What are the objects we play with? Do they remain embedded in our minds for years to come? This painting looks at the idea of toys and playthings and the role it has to play in the development of our psyche.  As trees blossom and bloom, so do your minds and hearts and our playthings from childhood are vital tools in bringing these to life,” describes it best.
