Sanatan Dinda

Sanatan Dinda a prolific artist known for painting, drawing, sculpture, and body painting was born in 1971 in Kumartuli, in north Kolkata, West Bengal. He graduated in fine arts (Western painting) from the Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata  in 1992 with first class. His works reflect his sensitive heart and his soul searching eyes often creates the imagery that is often illusionary and with spiritual tone. Forever experimental his figurative depictions come in layers with foliage, calligraphy and other markings in the background, adding to their visual appeal his deftness, skilled execution transcend even the two dimensional limitations of a canvas bringing the viewer to a closer space with his creation. ,br> The colourful ‘Kathputli’ Durga and decorated ‘Milky Way’ pooja pandals that he has created over the years attempt to redefine contemporary art inspired by folk forms. T Sanatan has received many awards starting with inter college competitions to the prestigious Birla Academy award. His work has been shown all over India as well an in the US, Singapore, Dubai and London and is in the collection of the Duchess of Kent, the Belgium Consulate, ISKCON and in private homes across the globe. He is the first Indian artist having a displayed portrait of Mother Teresa at the Buckingham Palace. He has exhibited extensively in India and internationally, in both group and solo shows and is now renowned for his skill in body-painting which is executed live. Sanatan Dinda won World Body Painting Festival also in 2023.
