Subashis Saha

Born in the year 1969, in West Bengal the artist did his B.V.A. in Painting, Govt. College of Art & Crafts, Calcutta University in 1992, and in 1995 completed his M. Fine in Painting Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan. From 1993 till date, he has participated in over 30 solo and group shows in the country. He was the recipient of several awards: Hon'ble Mention of Sixth Bharat Bhavan Biennial of India Contemporary Art Exhibition, 1996, His Excellency the Governor's Award & Academy's Award; All India Fine Arts Exhibition 1998-1999 amongst others. The colour, the fine lines, the language of his semi abstract art narrate a story that is often a reflection of the struggle of a human mind. sometimes it is the co-relation of the man with his mute spectator the animals, the goat, the bull, the horse engaged in some common activity, sometimes it’s the human expressing his untampered strong emotion through the strongly defined form. For the last 25 years the artist has been working as a guest lecturer at Painting Department of The Indian Art College of Arts and Draftsmanship.
