Sujata Kar Saha

“Images unfold themselves in my work creating tropes of awareness, accelerating the assimilation of what environmental experiences have to offer to me in concentrated form.”

In 2002 artist Sujata Kar Saha did her Bachelor of Visual Art, Indian College of Art and Draftsmanship, ( Rabindra Bharati University), Calcutta, W.B; and in 2006 Master of Visual Art, Government College of Art and Craft ,(Calcutta University)

She has been the recipient of several certificates of appreciation from Academy of Fine Arts, Charukala Parishad, Emami Chisel Art Gallery in Painting Category and Ananda Mumshi Award from Government College of Arts and Crafts, Kolkata.

Sujata has exhibited her works through several solo shows since 2014-2019 at Triveni Art Gallery in New Delhi, Emami Chiesel Arts and Academy of Fine Arts Kolkata.

She has also participated in innumerable group shows in Kolkata, Hyderabad, New Delhi, and Mumbai since 2004. Some of the recent ones are:

2023 “Songs of the yin” a Curated show by Chandrima Bhattacharyya at Harrington Street Arts Centre, Kolkata, 2023 “Serendipity – Season 2”, a Group Painting Show at Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata 2023 “ Womanism “ a group show at Nippon Gallery, Bombay, 2022 “ Womanism -1” a group show at T 93 Gallery,Kolkata by Nippon Contemporary, Bombay, 2019 Annual Exhibition, Charukala Parshad, participation in Painting Category, 2018 Annual Exhibition at Hyderabad Art Society, Hyderabad, India.

This contemporary artist is essentially known for her landscape series in abstract form that are vibrant and radiate her love for nature and its various forms. Not venturing into the figurative her landscapes are a nuance made through the sweeps and patches of colour bringing it to life.
