Artist Sujit Das is based in Kolkata and completed his BVA from Government
College of Arts and Crafts, in 1990 with a First Class.
Since then he has gone on to participate in several exhibitions in Kolkata some of
which are mentioned here: Annual Exhibition of Academy of Fine Arts 1991,
1995,1998: Annual Exhibition of Birla Academy of Art & Culture, Calcutta (1994-
2005) (2008-2010)• Charukala Utsav Calcutta (Organized by Cultural Department,
Government of West Bengal,1997. In the year 2015 the artist did a solo show in
Bangalore. He has been part of innumerable group shows since 1992 till 2011 in
Kolkata, New Delhi, Bangalore, Gurgaon and Mumbai at the Tribeni Kala Sangam,
Lalit Kala Academy and Jehangir Art Gallery. He also attended art camps at Shimla
and Gurgaon.
Artist Sujit Das was the recipient of the award of Annual Exhibition of Birla Academy
of Art & cultural, Kolkata in 1996.
For several years he was the teacher of painting at the Academy of Fine Arts from
the year 1995 till the year 2003.
He works both with acrylic and is also very proficient in water colour as his medium
of expression. Mildly coloured and often with a subdued palette, he chooses his
subject from the daily lives, village and rural setting. His detailed composition, and
rich texture creates his picturesque and beautifully crafted story in the mind of the
viewer.
