Sunirmal Maiti born in 1959 did his B.F.A. in Printmaking from Kala Bhavan, Vishva
Bharati University, and his M.F.A. in Printmaking from M.S. University.
Hailing from Midnapur, West Bengal, predominantly works with Acrylic colours. He
draws his subjects from stories of mythology, history and literature. Painted across his
canvas they are rendered with a quality and a temperament of their own. His collage of
scenes, figures, patterns and colours are not only what dreams are made of: surreal and a
bit unreal, but are colourful with a lasting impact that express the varying moods
perfectly. Maiti has been a part of numerous exhibitions in India and also works as a
curator and convener of art events.
