“yaa devi sarva vuteshu sakti rupenu sangaysthita… Namastashyayee namastashyayee namastashyayee namo namah…”
It’s just a matter of time, of weeks to months when the whole country wakes up to the occasion of welcoming the Mother home. Uma daughter of Himavan, wife of Shiva, the divine mother to us, the slayer of all that is evil and impure is getting ready to be with us once again. Inspired by the concept of ‘DEVI MAHATMYA’, yet, not restricted in the divine abode with its mythological interpretation, Devi is a glimpse of the real Durga living amongst us in the human form, with all her human foibles and challenges. Our Devi as a glimpse of the divine femininity that we see all around us: in a playful young girl, an ordinary woman battling out her life in the city, a wife, a mother, a sister and a daughter that grace our everyday existence and gives it meaning. As a woman of substance, strong in her divinity she yields power as she fulfils her responsibilities and duties of the society diligently, successfully and gracefully as a perfect daughter of the omnipotent Mother. Zeoline Art Gallery welcomes the Devi through the namesake exhibition with an array of paintings and sculpture of masters and fellow contemporary artists pan India portraying this very essence. As an eternal concept, yet, unique the exhibition will reconstruct the Devi in her multi verse form through the interpretation and representation of these veteran and versatile artists through their artworks. These works in a mix of styles to the mediums are not only visually pleasing but stands for meaningful symbolic narrative.
